This beautifully presented previous show winning car was built from the 19th-22nd December 1955 for the home market. The car was registered DEF 150, a West Hartlepool issued registration Mark and the car has a very interesting history. The car was supplied new by Gales Motor and Engineering Co Ltd in the North East and the original brown 'buff' log book records the cars first two owners. The car slowly made its way north and by the early 1990's was in Glasgow and later the Shetland Islands. It was during the early 1990's when the car was treated to a full bare body restoration by MG Z specialist John Shorten. The car was also re-trimmed at this point. On completion this was clearly a show winning standard car and in 1996 the MG covered 3000 miles in New Zealand on the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand's 50th anniversary rally.
Since restoration during the early 1990's the MG has only covered 11000 miles and in 2015 was subject of some further major expenditure. The car had made its way to the South West of England spending several years in Wiltshire. It was during this period major expenditure was put into the car by way of a re-conditioned five speed gearbox, front brake disc conversion, brake servo and chrome wire wheels. Since then the MG has participated in more events and picked up the car of the show award at Cowley Classic Car Show , Lambourn Show and Warnborough show.
DEF 150 is a striking looking car with a lovely Grey over Burgnedy colour combination. The body is still in excellent shape after so many years and the paintwork has a lovely aged look to it. The chrome work is bright and the engine bay and boot compartment is superbly presented. The interior is gorgeous with lovely deep Red leather, carpets are in excellent order as is the woodwork and headlining. The inside of the car has a true quality look and feel to it. On the road our ZA is a delight with a super strong 1500 engine offering impressive performance and great oil pressure. The five speed gearbox enhances the car, as does the front disc brakes and servo. This is a car that can really be used, driven and enjoyed and as proven over the years it a great car for the show scene and long distance touring
