This UK supplied MGA 1600 Coupe was first registered on the 25th August 1959, supplied new in Red and allocated the registration mark YOV 963. The MG spent some of its early life in Haverfordwest, South Wales and during the late 1970’s the car headed up to Paisley, near Glasgow and has since spent the past 40 years plus in Scotland, at one point as north as Banffshire and more recently, Cluny in Fife.
Between 2002 and 2008 the MGA was treated to a chassis up restoration that was carried out to a very high standard. The body was taken off the chassis, the chassis completely rebuilt and the body re-painted. The engine was stripped and rebuilt, the cylinder head converted to run on unleaded, dynamo overhauled, the differential treated to new seals, brakes and suspension overhauled, various re-conditioned ancillaries, various electrical work, new brightwork, trim work and a new set of tyres fitted to the car.
Since completion of the restoration over 10 years ago the MGA has covered just a few thousand miles. It has spent more time being detailed and polished than driven on the road. It presents superbly with a high-quality paint finish, superb chrome, excellent panel gaps, a beautifully presented upholstery and beautifully detailed engine bay ready to exhibit at a show. The MG drives incredibly well, the rebuilt engine is excellent holding correct oil pressure, the four-speed gearbox has excellent syncromesh and the car feels tight on the road with great handling. YOV 963 is an incredibly sharp, very tidy example, ideal for shows, events, regular use and it requires no major expenditure. This superb value, UK car that is ready to use and enjoy, and it will not disappoint.
