1958 MGA 1600 Roadster

This MKI MGA was built between the 29th and 30th April 1958 and was supplied as a LHD North American Export car. The MG has spent most of its life in the USA, being imported from California in 2013. The MGA originally had the 1500cc engine but at some stage has been upgraded and now has the 1622cc engine.

The MGA has an excellent bodyshell and has clearly been a dry state car for much of its life. The A has been subject of some recent restoration to include a full re-paint in Red Pearl metallic. The MGA has had a new set of chrome wire wheels in recent years and a brand new Red soft top and set of sidescreens. The car still retains its American specification Tan seats that are in excellent order, carpets are clean and door cards have been modified with carpet but this can soon be changed back to original if necessary. The engine bay is painted Black, but the car may not suit the purist being in a non-original colour.

This is a good looking, usable MGA. It is far from perfect; however the bodyshell is structurally excellent. The panel fit can be improved, in particular the door fit and this is something we can discuss improving with potential buyers. The paintwork is of a very nice standard, although there are the odd marks showing the car has been used. The paintwork has deep shine and the chrome work is very good throughout.  This car suits someone who wants to really use an MGA. It is great on the road, has an excellent 1622cc engine holding superb oil pressure and the four speed standard gearbox is excellent with very good syncro's. The engine has been rebuilt at some stage and sounds and performs superbly and the car is certainly impressive on the road. This MGA can certainly be improved and with some winter months in the garage being fettled, it could be made first class. For now it's a good usable, entry level A that offers great value.
