BUY 273M was first registered on the 4th July 1974 and is a genuine UK factory MGB GT V8. BUY 273M was built on the 4th-10th October 1973, despatched with cast alloy wheels and overdrive on the 19th October and sold new by Hereford dealership Mann Egerton & Co Limited. Originally Bracken Brown with Autumn Leaf trim, the V8 was not first UK registered until the 4th July 1974. The MGB GT V8 is now finished in Red with Red piped Black leather trim, lovely Red carpets and has a desirable Black webasto sunroof having being subject of a professional colour change back in the 1990’s.
We sold BUY 237M to the most recent owner in Boroughbridge in early 2017. Preparation work in our workshop included new front brake pads, new slave cylinder seals, new horns, new air distribution knob, new rear heated windscreen, new rear screen rubber and a service. Over the past eighteen months the MG has been used for shows and weekend touring. The V8 has driven to and from the past two Malton Show events faultlessly and has been further improved with a new heater tap, new differential housing back plate cover, new clutch slave and master cylinder, new seat belt guides and new steering wheel.
The MG has been driven over to us and has arrived in excellent mechanical order. The car has had regular fair weather use over the past 18 months but from 2011 to 2015 BUY 273M was off the road in dry storage. In October 2015 was put back on the road and subject of some light re-commissioning work and covered just 650 miles up to arriving with us in 2017. On the road this V8 is outstanding with impressive power and performance from the 3.5 V8 engine. The four speed gearbox is perfect to use with excellent syncromesh, the overdrive comes in and out smoothly and handling and braking feel top class. BUY 273M is fabulous fun to drive and a car capable of long distance touring.
The MG presents very well with an excellent straight body shell with stunning paintwork of a very high standard. The underbody is completely solid and the lower areas such as door bottoms, lower wings and wheel arches are all in excellent order. The chrome work is bright, the wheels in very good condition and the engine bay stunning with lovely clean, smartly painted inner wings and tidy, clean engine unit and ancillaries. The interior is particularly smart with nicely aged leather, lovely Red carpets and a clean, sharp dashboard with excellent dials and gauges. This genuine UK supplied original GT V8 is a stunning, tight driving example that really can be used to cover some serious classic touring miles and it will most certainly not disappoint on the road.
