1971 MGB GT

This MGB GT was first registered on 1st February 1971 and over several years the car has been restored to a historic rally car specification. The MG was completed three years ago but has sadly not been used due to the owners personal circumstances. On arrival the MG has gone into our workshop for a check over and light brake recommissioning work. There are several options to consider with regards to the next stage with this car, whether to have it as a road car or use it for historic rally car events and track days. We are happy to discuss requirements with potential buyers.

During restoration the MGB bodyshell was fully stripped down and then rebuilt with a full FIA 5 point safety device roll cage. A brand new Ivor Searle 1860cc engine was purchased with a standard gearbox and new competition clutch fitted. The MG has a new Kenlowe fan, straight through exhaust system, electronic ignition, heavy duty engine mounts, oil cooler and a standard rear axle with limited slip differential. ERR 892J was treated to new leaver arm competitor shock absorbers front and rear, standard roll bar, new brake calipers with discs fitted with competition pads, standard rear brake drums with competition linings, battery cut off switch, fuel cut off switch, fully fitted fire extinguisher with pull cords in and outside the car, navigators foot rest and air horns. Further upgrades include rally seats, laminated screen, plastic side and rear windows, fibre glass bonnet and boot with locking pins and expensive Minilight wheels.

Thousands of pounds worth of new parts have been fitted to the car making this an excellent opportunity. The car can be further rally prepared, much of the work has been done or it can be used on the road with a rally spec. The engine is brand new and perfect, there are some highly desirable parts fitted and the MG really looks the part. The bodyshell is excellent, solid and not requiring work, the paint finish is of a good standard and the interior is basic but as one would expect considering the original purpose of this vehicle. There are lots of options to consider with this car but considering the costs of parts alone, this has to be a great buy.
