This is an excellent opportunity to buy a very special pull handle MGB Roadster with lovely history, presented in beautiful condition. 919 GGF was built on the 9th September 1963, finished in Old English White with Red leather trim in RHD for the export market. The MG was supplied new with disc wheels, heater, ashtray, packaway hood, miles per hour speedometer and a low compression engine. We are not aware of where the car spent from 1963 – 1965, but we know on the 9th July 1965 the car was registered by the Greater London Council prior to heading to the North West of England. We have the original ‘buff’ logbook detailing the cars early owners, one of them who kept the car from 1973 to 2007.
919 GGF today presents superbly with an outstanding bodyshell with an exceptional paint finish having had a recent full re-paint in its original colour. The interior is of a lovely standard with what could be the cars original Red leather seats that have a delightful patina. Carpets, dashboard, door cards and hood are all in excellent condition. Going back further into the cars history we know the MG had major restoration work in 1978. Much better than an a Heritage shell, this car has had a brand new factory shell, and better still, the original pull handle doors, bonnet, boot, windscreen and front wings were retained in order for the car to appear totally correct. The car was thoroughly rust proofed, cavities filled with wax and as a result almost forty years later the car has absolutely no rust issues and the underside is exceptional. The MG was also treated to a factory re-conditioned engine and gearbox but shortly after rebuild, the MG was laid up off the road for many years. This would certainly explain why the original seats are still in such good order, and certainly points to the mileage of 77,000 potentially being genuine.
The MG has spent from 2008 to 2017 with one owner who has put the MGB back on road and carried out various work in order for it to prove a strong, reliable example in excellent driving condition. The cylinder head was removed and hardened valve stem oil seals fitted. The older reconditioned unit was checked and found to be in excellent order. The MG was then treated to a new fuel tank, fuel pump and carburettors were overhauled. A new stainless steel exhaust system was fitted, a spin on oil filter conversion carried out, the front suspension totally rebuilt and an anti-roll bar fitted. The brake calipers were overhauled, standard discs replaced with drilled TRW uprated discs, rear brakes overhauled, all new brake and clutch hoses fitted and the rear suspension treated to poly bushes and new shock absorbers. A new radiator was fitted, gearbox mountings and bushes replaced, the heater overhauled and hoses replaced, the dynamo re-conditioned as well as replacing many service items. Tyres all had to be replaced and then cosmetic work included replacing the bumpers, grill, hood, badges, refurbishing the windscreen frame and fitting new Pilkington glass, the dashboard was refurbished and door cards replaced. Very recently the MG has been treated to a full, top class outer re-spray and as a result is now ready to enjoy, show, exhibit and tour in. This is an all-round excellent driving car in strong mechanical condition, presenting beautifully and coming with an excellent history and still retaining its original colour combination and original registration mark.
