This is an excellent opportunity to buy a fully rebuilt MGB Roadster that has covered only 15 miles since completion. The car is outstanding throughout and has been completely rebuilt by a restoration specialist who had intended to keep the car. The project began in 2010 with the plan for the end result being an MGB better than when it left the factory. Arguably it is indeed that with some nice upgrades to include high torque starter motor, oil cooler and an engine bay and underside that could win shows.
Back in 2010 the car was purchased by its recent owner as a stalled project that was part way through a body rebuild using brand new Heritage or Steelcraft panels to include new wings, doors, boot lid, floor pans and sills. On initial purchase the bodyshell was taken to a specialist bodywork restorer and completed to an exceptionally high standard. On completion of the panel work and gap setting, the entire bodyshell was painted inside, outside and underneath. The shell was then re-delivered to its owner ready for a mechanical rebuild, re-trim and re-fit.
The project continued into 2011 but then was once again stalled due to business demand and various major restoration projects, mainly Jaguar E-Type's XK's and MKII's to which the restorer specialises. In 2016 the decision was made to finish the project and an commendable job has been completed. The engine with head removed was inspected, cleaned and found to be in excellent order. It was noted to have an unleaded head that was re-fitted with new gaskets. The gearbox was fully rebuilt, a rebuilt overdrive unit fitted and rear axle fully overhauled. All suspension, brake and steering components were replaced and are brand new, a new wiring loom installed and all the electrics overhauled. A new high torque starter, oil cooler, alternator, exhaust system and manifold, fuel tank, clutch were all fitted and the mechanicals finished off to an exemplary standard.
All new chrome, brand new tyres and Minilight style wheels and a mohair hood were fitted and the upholstery completed replaced to a beautiful standard. The dashboard was re-finished and all gauges and steering wheel are as new. On completion the car was MOT tested and since then driven to and from the owners home and workshop. A complete rebuild to this standard including car purchase could cost in the region of £35000-£40000 and as a result, as a fresh rebuild offers fantastic value. The car drives superbly tight like a new car, the engine is superb with a magnificent engine bay, the interior finished to the highest of standards and the bodyshell and paint first class. GMO 125K is ready to drive, enjoy and will not disapoint.
