1965 MGB Roadster - FIA Race Car

This stunning, top class FIA registered MGB race car has arrived with us in exceptional rebuilt condition. The MG has spent its entire life as a race prepared car, first registered in early 1965 in Belgium. The history file contains FIA papers from 1991 and during the more recent major rebuild, the MG was prepared to FIA specification once again. (Class GTS11, Period F 1962-1965) with invoices totalling in excess of a staggering £48,000.

The MG came to the UK in 2000 and has since undergone thousands of pounds worth of expenditure. In 2004 the MG was raced at the Grand Prix De Pau Historique and has also raced the short circuit at Le Mans. The last owner has used the MG for Historic Motor gatherings and Hill Climbs this past couple of years.

In 2014 the engine was rebuilt by Church Square Autos using Cambridge Motorsport parts. A brand new Pete Burgess cylinder head was fitted, and the impressive spec included steel ‘H’ section rods, J&E pistons giving 1853cc (FIA Max), specially selected and modified EN40 crank running on new competition shells throughout, Piper Race camshaft using large followers, Vernier timing gear, upgraded oil pump, Cambridge Motorsport alloy finned sump, lightweight starter and alternator. The invoice from Church Square Autos for the engine works totals over £7,500.  The MG also boasts an 1845cm Weber 48 carburettor, Salisbury Powerlock LSD. The car also boasts; aluminium fuel tank, polycarbonate side and rear windows, six-point TRS harness, corbeau forza bucket seat, cab & engine bay fire extinguisher system, mocal oil cooler, oil catch tank, full roll cage and desirable Toyo R888R Tyres.

Photographs in the history show the bodyshell stripped and in outstanding condition. From these detailed photos and from inspecting the shell we can confirm the MG is structurally outstanding with absolutely no rust issues. We can only describe the shell as first class and that of a completely, professionally rebuilt car. The car is beautifully finished with an exceptionally well-presented engine bay, boot and interior. The MG has had limited use since the rebuild so is relatively fresh since restoration and therefore in top condition. The engine, gearbox, LSD and general mechanical and electrical components are all in very good order and the MGB is most certainly ready to use and enjoy. This race MGB can continue to be used on the track but is also road registered and usable and very easily converted for rally use so should appeal to all different types of MGB buyers. This ferociously quick, superb rebuilt MGB is a very special car and one that should be enjoyed to is maximum potential.
