This UK Spec, Manual with Overdrive transmission MGC GT has covered 17000 miles since a major restoration 35 years ago. The C comes with a well documented history file dating back to the late 1970's and at various points in the cars history major expenses has been lavished on the car.
In 1983 the C was put through a garage in Maida Vale North London and work included rebuilding the engine with new pistons, re-grinding the crankshaft and fitting new bearings shells. A re-conditioned gearbox was fitted to the MG, as well as a brand new clutch, the brakes were overhauled, the exhaust replaced, a new starter motor fitted as well as a new petrol pump and various other ancillaries. A photo record shows a comprehensive body restoration (new sills and inner wings) and tyres and carpets were replaced. Invoices from the late 70's detail major suspension and steering work explaining why during restoration in 1983 these areas did not receive attention.
Invoices over five decades detail expenditure, restoration and good quality maintenance and as result the MG has had year on year classic motoring throughout its life. The MGC has been with its more recent owner for the past fourteen years and during ownership it has been treated to new leather seats, new carpets, headlining, door cards, steering wheel, new spinners, shot blasted and re-furnished wire wheels, new seat belts, overriders, under bonnet sound proofing, new tailgate stays, boot lock and braided fuel pipes fitted. Over the 14 year period the C has covered around 3000 miles and have been cherished.
KJX 306G has arrived with us as a roadworthy usable classic that is now essentially an older restoration. With only 17000 miles since a major mechanical overhaul including rebuilt engine and new gearbox, we know the MGC is strong and reliable. From the recent interior expenditure the inside of the car presents well and chrome work generally is of a very good standard. The MG is structurally strong but externally and under the bonnet the car is now ready for a full re-paint and engine bay detailing work. We have booked the car in for this work at our Malton Coachworks bodyshop and once the car is prepared for retail sale, we will offer the car onto the market with an asking price. In the weeks to prior to work commencing, we are happy to discuss option of selling the MGC with or without the paintwork carried out.
