1986 Mercedes 300SL

The W107 model Mercedes Benz SL is an absolute cult classic that lasted in production for almost 20 years. The W107 was in production from 1972 replacing the iconic Pagoda roof model which came off the production line in 1971.

MBZ 3443 was supplied new by North Riding Garages Ltd in Pickering, North Yorkshire. The car has now covered 112000 miles and comes with a comprehensive service history containing over 20 stamps in the original service booklet. Servicing has been with Mercedes Benz main dealers up to 1999 and specialists since.

The car presents very well with a stunning, near perfect interior. The seats are excellent and original, the cream carpets beautifully kept and the car has the optional rear seats. The hood is in excellent order with clear windows; the hard top is also with the car and has a smart headlining. The paintwork is of a very high standard and there are no major rust problems with the car. The wheel arches are excellent, lower wings excellent and the underside has been painted black in some areas. The chrome work is of a good standard and rear corner blades have been replaced at some point.

Mechanically MBZ 3443 is very strong and the fuel injected 2962cc straight six engine fires up readily. It drives smoothly and the oil pressure gauge sits at the top of the scale, whilst the temperature holds steadily. The ‘S' setting on the four speed automatic gearbox correctly holds gears until higher revs and the car drives perfectly straight as expected.
