The Mercedes Benz 190SL was first shown as a prototype at the 1954 New York Auto Show. Production ran from 1955 to 1963 and today these ultra stylish grand touring roadsters have become increasingly sought after.
This beautifully presented original right hand drive 190SL was first registered on the 3rd November 1960 and it has been with the same family for the past 28 years. The Mercedes Benz has spent much of the last eight years in storage with some occasional use. The car appears to be an older restoration that was clearly done very well. The body is remarkably straight with excellent solid panels and a very high quality paint finish. The brown upholstery presents in beautiful condition with excellent seats, carpets and door cards. The hood is in good condition with some wear but is not in need of replacement. The front bumper has faded and will be re-chromed for the new owner, the rest of the chrome is of a very good standard. The engine bay is nicely detailed and the boot area is tidy.
On the road this 190SL is a true delight with a strong 1897cc engine holding excellent oil pressure. The quiet four speed gearbox also feels strong with excellent syncro's. The brakes are sharp and the steering feels perfect offering a fabulous driving experience.
