We have collected this beautiful, rare Morris 10/6 from the Toulouse area in the South of France. The car has been in France for the past three years and will be re-registered in the UK retaining its original registration mark AVM 808. The Morris has been part of a lovely collection of rare classic cars and has been meticulously maintained over its three years in France. The Morris has proven to be completely reliable and has been used for local touring.
Prior to leaving the UK, the Morris was with one owner in Biggleswade for 44 years. During his long term ownership, a full body off restoration was commissioned. The three year restoration began in 1979 and we have a file of invoices and photographic record detailing the work. The Morris was stripped down to the bare chassis and rebuilt with a new ash frame. The body was restored and completely re-painted and the interior treated to new carpets and a new headlining. Some of the original upholstery has been retained and it is clear interior work has been carefully carried out as it does have a very original, aged feel. We also have paperwork to support the engine, gearbox, carburettor and steering box were rebuilt. At this stage a new clutch was fitted and a full brake and suspension system overhaul carried out. The mechanical work was all carried out by an automobile engineer in Bedfordshire and parts sourced through the Morris Club/Register.
With the restoration documentation we also have a certificate from the Morris Archive stating the originality and authenticity of the car. There is also a signed-off certificate from the Engineers responsible for the mechanical overhaul and rebuild work. Since rebuild, the Morris has covered in the region of 9000 miles.
On completion of the restoration, the Morris was used for many UK rallies and performed superbly. The Morris is a delight to drive with a lovely strong engine. Performance from the six cylinder engine is very good and the Morris handles and brakes very well. Whilst now and older restoration, the car does present very well with good quality paintwork and bright chrome. The interior has a lovely patina and the car does have a working sunroof, opening front windscreen and rear luggage rack. The Morris has come to us with a valid French MOT and will be sold with a full 12 months UK MOT certificate.
This is an incredibly rare early model and there are only a few survivors known to the Club.
