Just when you think there cannot be another original barn-find classic, something like this turns up.
I'm looking at a receipt from June 2nd 1962 which is a time-warp in itself. Ray Charles' "I can't stop loving you" would be playing on the radio - top of the hit parade on the BBC light programme. Acker Bilk's clarinet would soon follow with the dreamy "Strangers on the Shore" at number three while the new owner of this Bullnose was filing his receipt for a 36-year old ‘banger' he'd just bought. One Morris Cowley 1926, delivered in the sum of £100.
Eight gallons of Petrol at One pound nineteen shillings and sixpence. Twenty-five pence a gallon in new money! Amazingly, the family kept the car until now.
With a bit of minor work, I dare say you could go anywhere in this relic as it is. The old girl pulls like a train. Thankfully ‘it's a very late model with the four-wheel brakes which meant that you no longer had to throw out an anchor and hang on to your St Christopher during an emergency brake.
We so hope we can sell this to someone who will not restore it. Clean it yes, re-commission it, yes but strip and rebuild it, please no.
Here's a link to a short video you can cut and paste if required. Watch it and you'll understand. We gave the owner a good price in part exchange and the value is in the complete uniqueness of its condition.
I doubt we'll never see another like this.
