This highly upgraded, top class driving factory Morris Minor 1000 Convertible was supplied new in Old English White, first registered on the 11th August 1966 to its first owner in Berkshire. Having spent its first four years with one owner in Berkshire, in 1971 the Morris was sold to Millar Brothers in Kenilworth, the town’s first car showroom when set up in 1962. They supplied the car to a private owner in Coventry and the car then passed through several hands in the Midlands before eventually leaving for Suffolk in 2016 and later Canterbury where we collected the car from.
HON 411D has arrived with us in excellent mechanical order and has to be one of the best driving, quickest Minor 1000's we've owned. It really is brilliant fun and whilst it's not a purist's car, it is most certainly ideal for regular use and long-distance touring. Our Minor was restored between 2009-2011 and is equipped with a 1275cc engine, Ford five speed gearbox, Marina rear axle, alternator, two speed wiper motor, brake servo, brake discs, brake and clutch top up reservoir, hydraulic clutch lift, front anti-roll bar, electric window wash kit, telescopic shock absorbers, poly bushes throughout, high capacity water pump, aluminium Compomotive wheels, interior power socket, rev counter and modern stereo system. The upgrades make this an exciting, great fun car to drive with a more prominent exhaust note than usually expected with a Morris Minor. Most parts during restoration came from the Morris Minor Centre in Birmingham.
Not only was the car mechanically upgraded, the body was also subject of a major refurbishment program and full re-paint. The Morris was treated to many brand new panels, all listed in the history file, various new chrome work and the interior was re-trimmed to a high standard. A new mohair hood and hood cover was also supplied and fitted to the car. Since the refurbishment, HON 411D has covered less than 3000 miles and is on the button, and ready to go. The engine is super fit, strong and offers impressive performance and quick acceleration. The five speed gearbox is effortless to use, feels as new and the Morris handles very well with its uprated suspension and anti-roll bar. Brakes are much improved from standard, the car feels tight, responsive and just wants to be driven. HON 411D offers a fabulous uprated Morris Minor experience and will not disappoint. The Old English White paintwork presents very well, the body is lovely and straight, the interior beautifully presented and the engine bay and spare wheel well are in excellent order. Supplying and fitting the upgrades alone would cost more than our asking price so if looking for a modernised open top factory Minor, this has to be a brilliant choice.
