This stunning Morris Minor Lowlight was first registered on 1st June 1951 and has arrived with us in top class, stunning condition. The Lowlight Morris is an incredibly rare car and this is the first one we have offered onto the market in over fifteen years. Since last year, the Morris has been with a private collector, a Morris enthusiast with a superb collection of motor cars in the Lake District.
The Morris was subject of a full restoration and conversion to Tourer specification by marque specialists Canterbury Convertibles during the mid-1990's and considering the amount time since rebuild, the car is outstanding. The car was purchased by a club member, a Reverend from Oxfordshire and the car was well known on the club show circuit during the late 1990's and early 2000's. Due to age, the owner had to part with the car in 2013 and it was soon sold to the most recent owner.
During restoration the body was fully stripped down and rebuilt, the upholstery re-trimmed, a new hood, chrome and tyres fitted to the car. The Morris was fitted with a 1098cc engine, replacing the 28bhp sidevalve engine making the car more suited for longer distance touring. All mechanicals were re-commissioned and since completion the car has proved reliable and has clearly been maintained to a very high standard.
EX 7516 presents beautifully with a stunning, gleaming paint finish and lovely straight panels. The body is excellent; including the underside and the upholstery is of a very high standard. The engine bay is ready to show, the boot area superbly presented and the Morris drives and performs perfectly with an excellent strong engine, gearbox and running gear. These early Lowlight Morris' are in high demand and to restore one to this standard today could cost well in excess of £20,000.
