This lovely split screen Morris Minor was first registered on the 25th March 1955 and has been with its most recent owner for 40 years having purchased the car on his 31st birthday, the 25th September 1978. Now 71 years of age, the cars long term owner made the difficult decision to part with the Morris and his final drive out was bringing it faultlessly over to us from Harrogate. The Morris is a very correct car, in its original colour of Clarendon Grey with 803cc engine and a gorgeous, largely original interior and retains its original registration mark WPK 93.
When originally purchased in 1978 the Morris needed substantial work but was roadworthy and its 1977-1978 MOT certificate is in the history file. Whilst it had a nice interior trim, the bodywork was in a poor state and the engine and gearbox both required work. A rolling restoration began in the late 1970's and it was MOT tested with a new speedometer reading zero in 1980. Over the many years of ownership, the Morris has been steadily improved, driven and enjoyed and for the past five years it has been used for shows and summer use, only requiring maintenance work. The major work during the late 1970's and early 1980's included a body restoration and full re-paint, the engine was stripped and rebuilt and an overhauled gearbox fitted to the car. In 1995 the Morris was re-painted again and treated to new steel wings as the early 1980's restoration had seen them repaired rather than replaced and in more recent years the Morris has been treated to a new headlining, new carpets and the engine was removed for a re-furbishing the engine bay ensuring it was well accepted on the show scene.
WPK 93 is a delightful, honest car and still retains a great deal of originality. Since 1978 and the start of the long term rolling restoration, the Morris has only covered 3160 miles and it is therefore offered onto the market in excellent mechanical order. The engine is strong and runs and performs perfectly, the gearbox is lovely to use and the car has been continuously maintained and all parts and servicing has been logged in the history file. Brakes, suspension and steering are first class and the Morris is a true joy to drive. The Morris presents superbly with an excellent engine bay, lovely clean boot compartment and the interior is stunning with gorgeous original seats. The paintwork has a lovely finish and gleams. The Morris is structurally excellent as expected with a careful owner who has only driven the car in pleasant weather and kept it garaged. The odd minor blemishes are commensurate with a car painted over twenty years ago and do not detract from what is a beautifully presented, very special car. Chrome work is all in lovely order, detail like the gauges, dashboard are all in excellent order and the car is just delightful in every respect.
"The car is of fantastic quality and the coach works team did a superb job with the paint work. I was very impressed with the ethos of all of the staff I dealt with, at all times I was put at centre stage ..."
