This is a delightful Morris Minor Splitscreen that has been in the same family since 1974. The car was registered new in 1954 and was owned by a lady in Suffolk. In 1974, the most recent owner and her husband purchased the Morris whilst living in Somerset. They married in 1975 and went to work overseas leaving the Morris garaged until the Spring on 1977. The Morris formed a real part of its long term owners lives, they brought their first child back home from Yeovil Hospital in the Morris later in 1977!
With the Morris Minor Specialists in the region of £16,000 was spent on the car. The body was stripped down and restored as required, then fully re-painted. The original interior trim was treated to new carpets, new leather door pulls, front inertia seat belts and the car mechanically overhauled to include fitting a 1098cc re-conditioned engine, overhauled 1098 gearbox, new water pump, new clutch, flywheel, 4:2:2 differential, re-calibrated speedo, upgraded, larger brake drums, brake servo, rebuilt front and rear suspension, alternator, later heater, new halogen headlamps and new tyres.
Since completion the Morris has had gentle use, mainly for shows, events, classic rallies and local journey's in summer months. The grandchildren have enjoyed being driven around in a car that has been in the same family for an amazing 45 years. With deep sadness, after the passing of the lady owners husband two years ago, she has decided to part with the Morris. Having had no use for the past two years, we will be carrying out a full service on the Morris and supplying the car with a full 12 months MOT. It's arrived with us in lovely order presenting with nicely aged paintwork, excellent bodywork, a beautiful largely original interior and having covered relatively low mileage since the major mechanical restoration, the car is in very strong condition.
With its original registration mark, sensible mechanical upgrades, original colour and largely original interior, this very special car has been clearly cherished having spent most of its life with one family, and offers an excellent buy for anyone looking for a superb driving, reliable, properly restored Morris Minor that has lots of history and unrepeatable provenance.
