We last sold this genuine Morris Minor Tourer to one of our regular customers in Scotland back in March 2015. Several months were spent taking this very nicely restored car to show condition and over the summer the Morris has won a 1st place prize at Biggar Classic Vehicle Rally and a 2nd place prize at Ladybank Classic Car show. Several thousand pounds have been spent on a new set of uprated seats, preparing and detailing the boot and spare wheel compartment, preparing and improving the engine bay to show standard, new carpet under felt, spot lamps and mechanical work to include a re-conditioned gearbox and brake servo upgrade. Now fully fettled, detailed and with a show win to its name, our long term Scottish customer is ready for a change. 240 UXS has come back to us looking a different car and has had the careful attention and detail required to make this a stunning example.
Back in 2012 the Morris was subject of a major restoration having been off the road for many years. Since completion in 2013 the Morris has covered less than 1000 miles. The Morris was stripped to a bare shell and was treated to various new panels to include new steel front wings. The body was prepared and fully re-painted in Old English White and today still has an exceptional, gleaming finish. 240 UXS was also treated to brand new bumpers, light covers, wheel trims, tyres and a new hood.
Mechanically 240 UXS is very strong having had a full engine rebuild to include new pistons, big end bearings and main bearings. The crankshaft was re-ground, the block re-bored and the cylinder head refaced. The brakes, steering and suspension were overhauled with parts replaced or re-conditioned and has more recently been treated to a new gearbox, brake servo and re-conditioned dynamo. In total the Morris has had over £18,000 spent since 2012 and is a lovely, usable example.
The interior is stunning with recently replaced carpets, door cards, parcel shelf and seats. The front windscreen has also been replaced as it was scratched and original. The boot compartment is beautifully presented and the engine bay first class with a stunning, clean, painted engine unit and nicely painted and polished ancillaries. 240 UXS is a fabulous car to take to shows and rallies but also makes a fabulous open top weekend car.
