This very sharp, well presented classic Range Rover has driven to us from Oxfordshire. The Range Rover has spent much of the past 32 years in the South of England but back in 1984 did start off here in Yorkshire. The vehicle was supplied new by Central Garage, a Land Rover dealership in Driffield, under 20 miles away over the Wolds. A971 NRH was first registered to a business in Barlby, near Selby who are today still in the motor industry. They had the Range Rover serviced with the supplying dealer at 840, 6922, 12421, 18662 and 23716 miles in 1985. The original service book is still with the vehicle. The vehicle was then sold in 1987 for £10,695 by a Essex based Land Rover specialist, the bill of sale is still present detailing the sale to a Ceilings Company. There is no late 1980's and early 1990's paperwork but MOT records start from 1997 and since then there are receipts for various expenditure and maintenance.
Our Range Rover is a lovely example and desirable in having the five speed manual gearbox and lovely Rover V8 engine. Much of this Range Rover appears largely original. The bodywork and paintwork are of a very high standard and whilst there is paperwork from top Land Rover specialists for paintwork, the car has does have an original nicely aged feel. The Venetian Red paintwork is bright, very 1980's and does have a lovely deep shine and there are also invoices present for bodywork ensuring there are no rust issues. The Beige upholstery is very original and seats, carpets, door cards and headlining are in very good order. The Range Rover has now covered 100,000 miles and the upholstery appears very impressive. Over recent years A971 NRH has been covering very low classic car mileage, back in 1997 97,000 were recorded so it is clear it has been treated as as a true collectors vehicle since then.
We have been able to have a long test drive in the car collecting it from Oxfordshire and driving it back through busy Friday afternoon traffic. The Range Rover does not overheat, the V8 engine engine runs superbly and the manual five speed gearbox is in very good condition. The Range Rover drives very well with the only notable items requiring attention being suspension bushes, a job we will carry out. The Range Rover will be prepared in our workshop for its next owner, being supplied with a full 12 months MOT and freshly serviced. This is a true classic, and largely original and well kept examples like this are in demand.
