OC 8836 was first registered on the 22nd March 1934 and left the factory in Brown over Fawn. We know from the brown 'buff' logbook our Monaco was in the West Midlands during the late 1950's and by 1964 had moved to Worcester when the owner changed address. We have an original Shellubrication Service record from 1954-1972 and know the Riley remained with the same owner in Worcester throughout the 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's and was kept incredibly original. We have an MOT certificate from 1992 when the mileage was recorded at 74,795 and following this MOT the Riley was kept off the road until 2006. In 2005 the Riley was re-commissioned and painted in Black over Maroon by a Cheshire Riley enthusiast and restorer.
During the summer of 2006 we first sold the Riley to one of our regular customers who owns several classic cars all capable of regular use. The Riley was taken to local shows and in almost 6 years covered over 1000 miles. The only significant improvement between 2006-2012 was to the electrical system which was completely re-wired at the cost of over £2000. In 2012 we took the Riley back in part exchange and it was driven over to us making the short 40 mile or so journey faultlessly. In 2012 we sold our Riley Monaco for the second time, delivering the car to a customer in Ramsgate, Kent. Over the past two years the Riley has been further improved with professionally re-furbished upholstery that now looks outstanding.
On the road OC 8836 performs very well with a strong engine displaying good oil pressure and sufficient power. The Riley is a delight to drive and is in strong mechanical order. The car has proven to be reliable and has now been owned by two delighted returning customers. The Monaco has an excellent body and frame, delightful good quality paintwork and brightwork. The wheels and tyres are excellent, as is the roof. The Riley still retains a stunning dashboard and working dials, has a lovely re-trimmed headlining and nicely aged carpets. The seats and door cards are excellent and both engine bay and boot are clean. We are delighted to once again own the stunning, usable example that has a proven track record for reliability.
