The last of the RM line were the 1952 RME (1496cc) and RMF (2443cc) with full hydraulic brakes, a hypoid back axle and bigger rear windows. For the run out 1954 model year the styling of the RME underwent subtle changes such as no running boards, streamlined headlight pods and rear wheel spats.
SDE 982 has been known to us for some years now. In 2010 the Riley engine was fully rebuilt to include new pistons, re-ground crankshaft and re white-metalling of the big end and main bearings. The history file includes photo's and documentation of the engine rebuild along with details of restoration and re-commissioning work in 2001 as a result of the car being off the road since 1993.
This delightful example has covered less than 50 miles since the engine rebuild and drives beautifully. The engine runs perfectly and the gearbox is smooth and quiet. The Riley has been very well maintained and evidence of this is present in the history file. The car presents beautifully with smart, black paintwork and good chrome. The interior retains nicely aged original leather, good carpets and headlining. The Riley is nicely detailed and makes an ideal car for touring or attending shows.
A fabulous example with an engine rebuilt with no expense spared.
