This stunning early Rolls Royce MPW 2 door was supplied new by H.R Owen Ltd to the Chairman of Mining Supplies Ltd in South Yorkshire. The first owner was known for revolutionising mining methods and successfully grew his Company employing 6500 people. He was also involved in some controversial industrial relations during the 1970's and 1980's and his affairs were even debated in Parliament. His Rolls Royce was delivered on the 22nd August 1969 with full refrigeration, fog lamps and lap and diagonal safety belts to each front seat.
The Rolls Royce was owned by one of our regular customers in Lincolnshire between 2012 and early 2015. Over the three years of ownership over £4,500 was spent improving the car. We have receipts for lubrication work, a full service to include ignition items and a brake service, a new choke pipe, Magnecor HT leads, new sound deadening felt, new Wilton carpets and a new stainless steel exhaust system at the cost of £1,450 alone. The Rolls Royce was driven to us on two occasions from Lincolnshire and since we have known the car has always been in very strong mechanical order. During mid 2015 the Rolls Royce had over £12,000 spent on cosmetic work to include a bare metal re-paint in Rolls Royce Midnight Blue. All bright work, windows and frames, door handles were removed and the car taken back to bare metal. Window frames, headlamp surrounds, door handles and front and rear bumpers were re-chromed, the wheels re-painted and the engine bay detailed. The Rolls Royce was fitted with a brand new set of tyres and the interior stripped out, cleaned, treated and re-coloured and a brand new wool headlining fitted. All electrics were checked and window motors and switches re-furbished, seat motors removed and re-furbished and the car fully serviced. More recently, the Rolls Royce was sold to one of our regular customers in Leicestershire who has a real fine eye for detail. Since selling the car, over £3000 has been spent on correct original specification hub caps, a period and correct Becker Europa radio from Chrome London, complete with discreetly fitted IPOD lead, lambswool overrugs and an appropriate five digit registration number with cast digit plates from Ace Peak Plates fitted.
As a result of the recent work the Rolls Royce MPW presents beautifully with an outstanding glass paint finish. The paintwork is stunning, the body panels beautiful and straight and the chrome work lovely. The car is very impressive and the interior now stunning with a brand new headlining and lovely original seats and door cards that have been renovated. The carpets have been recently replaced, the woodwork is excellent and since 2012 the car has had in excess of £19500 spent taking it to a very high standard. 70 NNX is now a truly stunning car and in the words of the last owner, "even with my critical eye, I'd have to say we have a potential concours entrant on our hands" and the report from the first month of ownership really sums up what a special car this is; "my first month of ownership have seen me drive the car only a few precious miles, as the winter roads are both dirty and wet and I am once again back in the slightly obsessive world view of a closeted, immaculate car that will spend most of its time in my ownership hooked up to a battery conditioner and a under a cotton cover; this seems to be where I'm most happy with this type of car; away from dirt, dust and stone chips". If you could choose a previous owner for your special car, this would be the one; the car has been detailed, improved, and completely loved and is even better than when we last sold it. The Rolls Royce is truly outstanding to drive and offers luxury, superb performance and reliability. The car handles wonderfully; the engine and gearbox are super quiet as expected and the car sails along gracefully. The car is ideal for regular use, long distance touring and is an outstanding driving car and taking another MPW to this standard really could be difficult.
