This beautifully presented Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III was supplied new on the 6th November 1963 by World famous Rolls Royce dealership Jack Barclay Ltd (London). The first owner was a Major, F.V McMahon who ordered the Rolls Royce in Tudor Grey with Red leather upholstery and a 920T radio and combined parking and blinking indicators above each door pillar. The car is today is with its original registration mark 979 GXY and presents beautifully with stunning, pristine paintwork and a wonderful upholstery that still retains its original leather. We know the Rolls Royce spent much of its early life in the South of England and the past five years have been spent with a close friend of ours in South Wales.
Maintenance records from 2010 show the Rolls Royce has been treated to a re-conditioned gearbox and torque converter, the power steering pump has been overhauled with new seals, further new parts include two new brake master cylinders (large and small), new starter motor solenoid, suspension king pins and lower bearings. Since this work in 2010/2011 the Rolls Royce has covered in the region of 4000 miles. In this period the Rolls Royce has been used for wedding work and has proven completely reliable. 979 GXY has been driven on a regular basis, has been part of a large expensive collection but due to selling the business, the Rolls Royce has had to be sold. On arrival with us, we decided to re-paint the car back to original having spent several years in White. The Rolls Royce has been treated to a full re-paint to include various metal work and various new seals. We can now confirm the Silver Cloud III is structurally excellent, requiring no work to the underside or bodywork. As a result of the recent work, the car has a gleaming, exceptional paint finish in the cars original colour and almost £10,000 has been spent having this work done.
The Rolls Royce retains beautiful upholstery featuring original Red leather. The seats have finely aged and retain a wonderful patina, carpets and headlining are very smart and the woodwork is exceptional with a first class finish. As above, with the stunning, gleaming paintwork, smart chrome work, the car has wonderful presence. 979 GXY has not been used over the past year so will be scheduled into our workshop for some re-commissioning work. The vehicle is available to purchase in its current condition, or with full MOT, servicing and re-commissioning. Since arrival we have fitted a new battery, rotor arm, distributor cap, spark plugs and ignition coil. The engine runs and performs superbly with excellent oil pressure. From the lovely original seats, we would suggest the recorded mileage of 24000 is likely to be 124,000, not a high mileage for this type of engine. We have inspected the vehicle and the work required is mainly to the braking and electrical system. We would also suggest new coolant hoses and various minor jobs which we are happy to discuss with potential buyers. The price is negotiable dependent upon whether we prepare the car or sell it in its current condition.
