The Rover SD1 (Special Division Number 1) was launched in 1976 and won the European car of the year award in 1977. The architect of the SD1 shape was Rover's David Bache and the prominent mid-riff indentation and narrow headlamps were unmistakable. As a result, the SD1 looked distinctly sleek for 1976. The Rover was launched with the familiar 3500 V8 engine, live rear axle and MacPherson strut front suspension which sharpened up the handling considerably. Rover quoted a top speed of 125-135mph and 113,966 SD1's were built in total.
Our Moonraker Blue SD1 Vanden Plas EFi Automatic has only covered 71,000 miles from new and is remarkably original throughout. The Rover comes with a comprehensive history detailing maintenance and repair work carried out over the years along with MOT certificates dating back 20 years. The Rover presents beautifully with excellent body and paintwork. The body is super straight and the paint finish is consistently excellent throughout the car. The interior is very smart and original with good carpets, mats and original velour seats. The Rover comes with the factory option of sunroof which is fully working. The engine bay is smartly presented and has been well detailed.
On the road performance is impressive as expected with a healthy low mileage V8 engine. The automatic gearbox changes nicely and the car handles superbly. The Rover is sold with a full 12 months MOT, fresh service and function check.
