1996 Rover Mini Cooper 35 LE
This incredible example has only covered 3000 miles from new. Only 200 of these Limited Edition Minis were made for the U.K market in 1996 to celebrate 35 years since the introduction of the 1961 Mini Cooper. All of the Cooper 35s sold immediately without the need for a special advertising campaign by Rover. The LE 35 features Almond Green paintwork with a white roof, wheel arch extensions and door mirrors finished in Almond Green, classic porcelain green leather seats, steering wheel and gear knob with the front seats embossed with the Mini Cooper logo and just to finish of the interior nicely, a full width burr walnut dashboard with centre clock and fog lamp switch. For added styling, the 35 LE came with four auxiliary front lamps, 12" Minilite style Cooper alloy wheels with a charcoal finish and 35th Anniversary decals fitted to both rear side panels and boot lid. The engine is the standard single point injection 1275cc PS DIN three way catalyst Cooper unit.
The car comes with an exceptional history file including the original bill of sale, magazine articles featuring the car, letters, photographs during rallies and MOT certificates. The original handbook and brochures also accompany the large leaver arch file. Within the file is a Concours Runner Up certificate from the Gaydon Mini Festival in July 2008. The car was driven from West Yorkshire to the Midlands and was not prepared to even enter the Concours competition but still was judged and claimed 2nd prize. According to the judging sheet, with cleaner tyres and less dirt under the wheel arches and on the engine block, it could have won its class! (It had driven over 125 miles to get there!) The car had been with the same family from new in 1996 to 2007 and a letter from the original owner is with the file, explaining how he heard about and bought one of the 35s to when and how he used and maintained the car so well. Needless to say, during the winter the car was taken off the road and kept in a garage under a dust sheet.
The car is simply outstanding with an interior still like brand new, excellent body and paintwork and mechanically perfect as you would expect after 3000 miles. The car is almost brand new and is very special being such a rare model with so little use.
