The P4 100 Rover was launched in 1960 and used the seven bearing, 2625cc six cylinder engine. The engine had substantial power and was capable of 100 mph. The four speed gearbox with overdrive gave more relaxed cruising, making the 100 ideal for longer distance touring.
This very smart and usable example comes with a comprehensive history file that includes BP Lubrication service records from 1966 to 1972. The original overdrive instruction card is also with the car along with tool kit and a handful of more recent invoices. We also have a notebook that keeps record of all works carried out since 2003 when the car had a recorded mileage of 82,472. Since 2003 the Rover has covered almost 20,000 miles and eight pages of notes detail an extensive list of work carried out. Major work includes an engine rebuild in March 2004. The engine was treated to new big end and main bearings. The Rover also had a new clutch at this point. Some bodywork and re-chroming was carried out amongst much more other work.
The car is presented in very good condition with a very solid and straight body. Inner wings are exceptionally clean and the engine bay is nicely detailed. The interior is very original and whilst the leather is creased and has a couple of very minor splits, the overall presentation is very good. The carpets are original and have a nice patina. Mechanically the Rover is outstanding with a superb engine, smooth gearbox and working overdrive. The car has been in regular use over the past nine years and feels very tight on the road.
