This beautifully presented Rover P5B was first registered on the 15th March 1971 and is finished in Zircon Blue with Silver Birch roof with Magnolia leather upholstery. This stunning car has a recorded mileage of 59000 and we know from paperwork in the history file that the car had a recorded mileage of 37000 miles in 1987 so we can see the Rover has covered 22000 miles in the past 31 years. The Rover has spent some time overseas in Holland and returned to the UK in 2015.
On its return to the UK the Rover has been subject of a major restoration programme. Photographs in the history show the Rover completely stripped down with glass removed, front and rear wings removed and all doors off the vehicle. The body was restored as required with various new metal work and was then fully re-painted in Zircon Blue with Silver Birch roof and fitted with new rubbers. The interior was completely re-furbished and treated to renovated woodwork, new carpets, headlining, door cards, re-trimmed leather upholstery and re-covered head rests. Mechanically the Rover was treated to front and rear Spax shock absorbers, new anti-roll bar bushes and links, new propshaft universal joint, a brand new stainless steel exhaust system and manifolds at a cost of £1350 alone and re-conditioned radiator. The engine and gearbox were serviced and treated to fresh oil and since 2015 the P5B has covered 7000 faultless miles.
The Rover has arrived with us in stunning condition. The bodywork and paintwork present superbly, the chrome work is excellent, and the engine bay is nicely detailed. The boot compartment has correct original type rubber mats and is in lovely order and the upholstery is exceptional and has clearly been re-trimmed with no expense spared. On the road VBO 522J performs beautifully with an excellent strong V8 engine holding impressive oil pressure and delivering excellent performance. The automatic transmission changes up and down smoothly and the P5B is a delight to handle with precise steering, sharp brakes and a lovely comfortable ride. This Rover has had a high level of expenditure and is a car ready to show, tour and use on a regular basis. VBO 522J has been converted onto chrome wire wheels although we do have the original set of Rostyle wheels should these be preferred. The car comes with invoices for recent work, photographs and all original handbooks and manuals.
