The car was despatched on the 19th February 1973 and was built as a RHD Export car that was sold new by British Leyland (Eire) Dublin, Ireland. The Rover comes with a Heritage Certificate confirming Label (Line) Number 30 which refers to the production line number and other information confirms the Rover was first registered in Cork where the car spent much of its life and has spent the past few years in County Carlow and prior to coming over to the UK we are told in the region of £2,000 had been spent on mechanical work.
This stunning Rover P5B Coupe was originally purchased by us in Ireland in July 2015. The P5B was driven from Tullow in County Carlow; covering around 85 faultless km's and was driven through Duiblin City Centre at rush hour on a Friday afternoon with absolutely no mechanical or cooling issues. The vehicle was collected in Dublin and driven onto the Holyhead ferry the following day. The Rover was then driven faultlessly almost 200 miles to North Yorkshire cruising perfectly at 70mph on the motorways. The Rover was then put through our workshops and has since had in the region of £8,000 of retail expenditure since. The Rover was treated to re-lined brake shoes, new rear wheel cylinder seals, front ball joint cover, rear axle brake pipe, new handbrake pivot linkage, new alternator, ignition lock, new window regulator, new rocker cover gaskets, choke cable, various re-wiring and a full service. The Rover was also fully serviced and MOT tested prior to UK registration. Cosmetic work since arriving in the UK include a full re-paint in the vehicles original colour, new door seal rubbers and a brand new rear bumper. The interior was also treated to new seat foams and some re-trimming work.
As a result of the recent work the Rover presents beautifully with a stunning glass paint finish and excellent straight panels. The chrome work is of a very good standard and the interior is stunning with excellent headlining, door cards, carpets and woodwork. The leather seats present beautifully and all the gauges work correctly. The interior has a high quality finish to match the impressive external features. The boot area is also very clean and the engine bay is of a local show level standard with exceptionally clean inner wings and super clean engine unit and polished ancillaries. On the road FVO 610L is wonderful with a strong powerful V8 holding correct oil pressure and smooth automatic gearbox. Brakes and suspension feel superb and the steering is super smooth and quiet. The Rover is a very impressive car to drive and is ideal for regular use and long distance touring. FVO 610L has a lovely level of detail, has had recent major expenditure whilst still retaining a great deal of originality. This is certainly a car for the discerning buyer and has a truly beautiful finish to it.
