No cars in the 1970's seemed to have the same air of solid worth and self-effacing dignity than the Rover P5B. They were still doing sterling service when Margaret Thatcher arrived in Downing Street in 1979 to begin her eleven year reign. During Margaret Thatcher's tenure as Prime Minister, she ordered a dozen black Rover P5s, so that no-one in the government would be driven around in the new Rover SD1. The Queen also used to own an Arden Green Rover P5B For years, P5B's were regularly sweeping into Parliament and Buckingham Palace.
This very smart Coupe is presented in beautiful original condition. The bodywork is of an excellent standard with a lovely paint finish. The car has been mainly used for shows over the past two years and is recognised as one of the finer original examples on the road. The mileage of little over 68,000 appears genuine with some history to support. The original black leather is in lovely order and carpets, headlining and door cards are all original and very smart. The car even retains its original Rover mats. This is a very well cared for example and is no disapointment on the road. The V8 engine runs beautifully with good oil pressure and excellent performance. The gearbox is very good with smooth gear changes and no whines.
