This exceptional Saab 96 has been rebuilt to a first class standard. The car was purchased as a bare rolling shell in 2007 and restored by a Saab specialist to the specification of the new owner.
The Saab engine crankshaft balancing weights were changed and a new carburettor fitted along with a new distributor/coil, new water pump, new radiator, new brakes with braided pipes, new clutch and the gearbox overhauled. Further work included re-conditioning the starter motor, alternator and fitting a new fuel tank and sender unit. New shock absorbers and new wheel bearings were all fitted and a new stainless steel exhaust system purchased and round headlights requested as per the factory rally cars. The exterior was nicely finished off with replaced chrome work, a set of Ronal replica wheels and Saab 92 gravel guards and earlier mud flaps. The interior was re-upholstered to original specification and a motolita steering wheel fitted.
Since restoration the Saab has been treated to an oil and filter change every six months and has clearly been maintained to the highest of standards. The Saab is stunning both inside and out, including the engine bay and boot area. The car is outstanding to drive and does not require any work. The Saab has covered around 4000 miles since 2007 and is prepared and ready to enter shows and rallies. Recently the Saab attended a Saab track day at Cadwell Racing Park.
