This Saab 96 is a multiple show winning example that has been rebuilt to the very highest of standards. The car is first class in every respect and we are delighted to once again offer this show standard car for sale. In over 20 years of business, we have not seen a Saab 96 anything like this. Thousands of pounds and hours and hours of detailing have gone into this car ensuring it is one of the best. This is an unrepeatable opportunity and examples of this quality very rarely come onto the market.
UJW 926L was purchased as a bare rolling shell in 2007 and restored by a Saab specialist to the specification of the new owner. The Saab engine crankshaft balancing weights were changed and a new carburettor fitted along with a new distributor/coil, new water pump, new radiator, new brakes with braided pipes, new clutch and the gearbox overhauled. Further work included re-conditioning the starter motor, alternator and fitting a new fuel tank and sender unit. New shock absorbers and new wheel bearings were all fitted and a new stainless steel exhaust system purchased and round headlights requested as per the factory rally cars. The exterior was nicely finished off with replaced chrome work, a set of Ronal replica wheels and Saab 92 gravel guards and earlier mud flaps. The interior was re-upholstered to original specification and a motolita steering wheel fitted.
Since restoration the Saab has been treated to an oil and filter change every six months and has clearly been maintained to the highest of standards. The Saab is stunning both inside and out, including the engine bay and boot area. The car is outstanding to drive and does not require any work. The Saab has covered around 6000 miles since 2007 and is prepared and ready to enter shows and rallies. Over one year ago we sold the Saab to one of our regular customers in Scotland. The Saab has not been driven in poor weather conditions and over the winter months was carefully detailed and prepared by the most fastidious owner who is meticulous when detailing his classic cars. Many winter evenings were spent ensuring this car would win shows and over the summer of 2012 the Saab has won several trophies including a ‘Best in Show'. Now the car has been taken as far as possible in terms of detail and condition and after covering almost 2000 miles, the last owner has bought something else in preparation for the 2013 show season. When we sold the car in 2011 it was outstanding, the car is now even better and to restore a Saab 96 to this standard will cost in excess of our asking price. This is a truly sensational car and is by far the best very Saab 96 we have ever seen. The car is in outstanding condition and this is a rare opportunity to purchase what must be the very best Saab 96 on the market.
