This beautiful Singer Gazelle was supplied new by Progress Service Garage, Ormskirk in early 1959. This 4 speed manual column change Singer left the factory in Windsor Blue and Cloud White and was first registered in Lancashire on the 17th February 1959. In total 10,929 MKIII cars were built at Ryton-on-Dunsmore and the cost new was £848 including purchase tax.
This largely original example has recorded 80,000 miles which from condition is believed genuine. The Singer comes with MOT certificates showing the car has covered 11000 miles in the past sixteen years and the car is presented in excellent condition throughout. The underside is body colour with no evidence of previous welding, the body is very original with a lovely standard of paint, the interior beautiful and original and the car is nicely finished with a detailed engine bay ready for shows.
On the road our Gazelle is exceptional and was actually driven here 250 miles from Suffolk. The engine and gearbox are both excellent and the car handles perfectly. The car has been in regular use over the past two years attending many shows and rallies. Since 2009 the Singer has been treated to front and rear shock absorbers, a new clutch, a complete heater unit and system and regular servicing. The car is a true pleasure to drive and we are delighted to offer this lovely original period saloon car onto the market.
