1966 Singer Gazelle

This truly outstanding Foam White with Pippin Red insert Series VI Singer Gazelle has only covered 63000 miles from new and is quite simply the example we have seen. We are told just 1482 MKVI Singer Gazelle's were built, making this an exceptionally rare model. GFH 378D has outstanding bodywork that has never required any welding work. The doors close effortlessly like the day it left the factory, the panels are perfectly straight with no rust and the underside is top class and original. The Singer has lovely paintwork and has never required a full re-paint, this is an unrepeatable opportunity.

We sold the Singer to one of our regular customers in Essex last year, prior to that the Singer last changed hands in 1997, being sold by us at our former premises on Leeds Road in Huddersfield. Since selling the car in 1997, the West Yorkshire owner has only covered in the region of 1500 faultless miles. The car has been garaged and covered with a sheet, only taken out in good weather. On one occasion the car was returned to the garage as light rainfall began. The car has been kept in pristine condition.

We have an excellent comprehensive history file with the car. From the history we know the Singer was treated to new carpets in 1988, the perfect seats and woodwork still original today. The headlining is also original and is in very good order. In 1995 the car has some mechanical re-commissioning work to include a complete new exhaust system, new Firestone radial tyres, new front brake calipers, new pads and shoes, front brake discs and rear wheel cylinders. The Singer was also treated to a new clutch, brake and clutch master cylinder, new core plugs and the gearbox was re-conditioned. During this recommissioning work the bodywork was not touched and it was reported that GFH 378D had an absolutely perfect underside, the bodywork as a whole was in excellent order and the car has been undersealed from new. It was reported that there were two small areas where the top coat of paint was wearing thin after polishing over the years. After the above work, the Singer was ready to show and won several 1st class during 1995 including the Association of Singer Car Owners award.

This rare MKVI example has come to us in excellent condition. The car starts instantly, ticks over perfectly with excellent oil pressure and the 1725cc engine displays great performance. The four speed gearbox changes smoothly and the desirable overdrive works perfectly. Having covered so little mileage since mechanical refurbishment work, the car is absolutely on the button and is a car that can be driven and enjoyed without hesitation.  This is a very special car and whilst not in concours condition, it is beautiful, original and untouched in so many respects. The engine bay is sharp and still retains the original wax oyl applied to the inner wings, the boot area is totally original and super clean, the chrome work gleams and the glass is also in lovely condition. This is a rare opportunity to purchase an original, low mileage Gazelle that is an ideal collector's piece.
