This is a remarkable find! This Standard 12 was registered new in York and has remained stationary in the same York city centre garage for the past 35 years. The vehicle was on the way to Bridlington on the A166 when the head gasket blew 35 years ago towards Garaby Hill. The car was limped home and has not left the garage until Thursday 7th July when our transporter winched the car out. The last owner, an ex railway worker actually showed this car to one of our technicians 30 years ago in the same garage. Photographs were taken when we collected the vehicle, more will follow after the weekend. We have found the body to be in very good order. The panels are straight and solid and with some air in the tyres, the car will stand well. The interior will require some work and we have the original cylinder head which will need re-fitting. The Standard has the Wilson pre-select gearbox and was used as an everyday car before being 'parked up'. This is a great find and a superb project for the 'enthusiast'.
