The Subaru SVX is a grand tourer coupe that was in production between 1991 and 1996. The SVX made its debut as a concept car at the Tokyo motor show in 1989 and in total 24,379 cars were built. 14257 went to the USA, 2478 were sold in Europe and only around 7000 were built in RHD format including 249 vehicles that sold in Australia. Interestingly, in 1991 a Subaru SVX won the Alcan Winter Rally, a race starting in Seattle to the Arctic circle and back during the early 1990's there was a Subaru SVX PPG pace car. Due to low production numbers, the SVX is quite a rare car in the UK and is quickly gaining 'modern classic car' status.
This example was registered new in the UK on the 10th September 1993 and has had a total of five owners from new. The car has covered 112,000 miles from new and comes with an excellent service. The service book includes stamps at 7939, 14901, 23213, 29720, 77089, 86165, 88592, 94518, 103795 and 110000 miles. Five of the services have been carried out at Subaru main dealerships and three carried out with main dealer Mazda agents. The Subaru also comes with a comprehensive file of invoices for service and maintenance work detailing thousands of pounds worth of expenditure.
The Subaru originally came to us in part exchange from a regular customer in Norwich and the car was driven here faultlessly. The Subaru performed perfectly over the 200 mile plus journey was sold to one of our regular customers in Worcestershire who has covered almost 2000 miles in the car. Since then in the region of £2000 has been spent on the car to include new timing belt idlers at a cost of over £800 alone, new timing belt, water pump and replacement crank oil seal. The 3319cc engine is quiet, powerful and offers exceptional performance. With a six cylinder engine producing 226bhp and a four speed automatic gearbox, the car is not only luxurious and very comfortable and quiet; it is quick and offers impressive acceleration. It's an excellent choice for long distance touring and with such robust running gear; they are a very reliable car. This particular example is in excellent mechanical order having being maintained superbly, mainly through main dealer garages. It has clearly been very well looked after and from the extensive file of receipts, it has been maintained with no expense spared.
The Subaru presents very well with non-faded Red paintwork, good alloy wheels and clean trims. The upholstery is Black leather with walnut dash and good quality carpets. The condition is clean and as one would expect with the mileage. The boot area is very smart, the engine bay tidy and the bodywork is in excellent order for a largely original car. The Subaru is a top quality example and with the recent expenditure offers very good value.
