This stunning Wedgewood Blue Triumph 2000 was first registered on the 25th April 1966 in Stratford, London to a Professor who owned the car for 29 years. In March 1973 the owner moved from London to North Yorkshire and during long term ownership only covered 34,000 miles. Between 1993 and 1996 the Triumph was not used and garaged, and since then has been owned by enthusiast who have regularly used the car for shows and rallies. The Triumph is largely an original car and has come to us with a total mileage of 38,000 from new. DFE 181D is a true collector's piece and is in unbelievable condition with an outstanding, totally original interior. The upholstery still retains polythene door covers that will have been fitted at the factory, carpets and the headlining are like new and the seats, dashboard and woodwork are outstanding. The Triumph is a true time warp and the wonderful original upholstery is somewhat unrepeatable on what is a very rare early model of the popular Triumph 2000.
During the first 29 years, the Triumph only required essential maintenance and regular servicing and we have invoices for MOT tests, services and maintenance during the late 1960's, 1970's and 1980's. Since the mid 1990's the Triumph has only covered 4000 miles and the history file details various tours and rallies that the car has successfully completed. The Triumph has been in Scotland since changing hands and invoices are present for regular maintenance and repair work over the past 18 years. DFE 181D has been owned by real enthusiasts who have maintained this car to the highest of standards and we can confirm the car is in top class mechanical order. The Triumph is excellent to drive with a fabulous, strong, quiet and low mileage engine with super smooth gearbox and working overdrive. The Triumph handles faultlessly and drives as you would expect when almost new.
The condition of the car throughout is superb and the paint and bodywork are excellent. The Wedgewood Blue paintwork has a stunning glass finish and the panels are lovely and straight with excellent gaps. The chrome work is bright and largely original and the engine bay is beautifully presented and original. As mentioned, the interior is first class and unrepeatable. DFE 181D is a wonderful find, the MKI Triumph is becoming a very rare car and examples in this condition are rarely seen. To find a low mileage car like this is incredibly difficult and it must be carefully owned in order to maintain the outstanding condition. This is a true collector's piece for the discerning buyer.
