This is a wonderful, top quality original, low mileage (65000 miles), low ownership car with a huge level of provenance. Cars like this are difficult to find, its remarkably original and absolutely beautiful throughout. On the 24th June 1970, the car was purchased new by an RAF pilot who walked into Triumph Distributors Julians of Reading and bought it there and then. Finished in Laurel Green with Tan vinyl trim, the 2000 was equipped with overdrive, it was freshly undersealed new, all for a total price of £1526.00 and a copy of the original bill of sale is with the car. The Triumphs first owner kept the car for 48 years and covered 63000 miles in the car.
The car comes with a wonderful history file with pages of handwritten notes for self-servicing and maintenance adding to the comprehensive file of dealership and garage invoices. The original service book is still with the car confirming Julians of Reading carried out the first service at 973 miles in July 1970 and in May 1971 they serviced the car again at 5948 miles. Invoices are present from the late 1970's and early 1980's from Tourist Trophy Garage Ltd in Surrey and in 1983 Vauxhall and Rover main agents A.C Barnes began looking after the car and invoices date up to 2000. Maintenance in the 2000's has been carried out by various classic car and Triumph 2000 specialists who have ensured this incredibly honest, original car has been kept in excellent mechanical order. Completing the impressive history is the original handbook, Manufacturers Guarantee, original Julians of Reading tax disc holder, service book and Radiomobile instructions.
This really must be one of the most original Triumph's you could find, it presents in stunning condition with lovely Laurel Green paintwork and an excellent underbody, the car has never required major bodywork has no corrosion issues. The Tan upholstery is truly gorgeous with stunning upholstery, fabulous carpets and an impressive, crisp and sharp dashboard. The inside of the car has a wonderful warm feeling, its comfortable, incredibly clean and really enhances a superb driving experience. The engine is unbelievably quiet, it performs superbly, it cruises effortlessly with 2500rpm at 70mph and handles and performs superbly. Mechanically this car is incredibly strong, it has been superbly maintained right throughout its life, it has never been neglected, does not require any major work and looks and drives like it was just a few years old.
