This stunning 2088cc Triumph Renown was first registered on the 1st November 1950 and allocated with the registration mark GMW 545. Our Triumph left the factory in Black and was supplied new to Ushers Wiltshire Brewery Ltd in Trowbridge. The Triumph was sold in 1956 to a private individual in Chippenham where the car remained until 1967. The car was in Staffordshire for a number of years before being sold to Limited Company in Liverpool. During the late 1970's the Triumph was off the road in Lancashire with a mileage recorded at little over 50,000. The Triumph Renown was not registered again with the DVLA until 1992.During the early 1990's the Triumph was subject of some restoration and re-commissioning work. The car was MOT tested in 1992 with 57819 miles and has been kept on the road since with the mileage now recorded at 68000. We last owned this car in 2005 when the Triumph had covered 61000 and since then the car has been significantly improved with an engine rebuild with its last owner in Northern Ireland. The engine has had new pistons, new liners, new oil pump, new oil seals and all new gaskets. The cylinder head, valves and seats were refaced and the crankshaft and bearings realigned. The engine was rebuilt and since this work in 2008 GMW 544 has covered over 4000 miles.
The Triumph drives superbly with an excellent, strong engine. The overall mechanical condition is first class and the car requires no expense in order to be used and enjoyed. The car presents beautifully with smart paintwork, gleaming chrome and the most superb leather upholstery which has been re-trimmed.
The Triumph comes with a detailed history file containing the original buff logbook, photographs of restoration work, engine rebuild invoices, MOT test certificates, letters and correspondence dating back to the 1970's and some owners club information.
