This very well presented MKIII Triumph Spitfire has been driven over 350 miles to our premises from Aberdeenshire. OYU 824F performed faultlessly during the long journey South and has proven to be an ideal car for long distance touring. The Spitfire is comfortable cruising between 60-70 mph and the 1296cc engine is strong and performs superbly. The gearbox changes up and down nicely and the car handles and brakes particularly well with recently replaced front brake discs.
OYU 824F was subject of a major restoration several years ago. A ground up restoration was carried out and we can report various new panels to include front and rear wings, floor pans, door skins and bonnet were purchased. The body is particular good with lovely straight panels and the underside is beautifully presented with white floors free from black waxoyl. The bodywork has been very well restored and both the engine bay and boot are clean and smartly presented. The interior has been re-trimmed as standard with black vinyl seats with white piping. Carpets and door cards have also been replaced and a new hood is with the car. The chrome work gleams and has been replaced during restoration.
Mechanically the car is very strong and further confidence can be taken from the vehicles superb performance during the 350 mile trip to North Yorkshire. The cylinder head has been converted to run on unleaded fuel and a stainless steel exhaust has been fitted. The Triumph has been regularly serviced and has recently had the carburettors set up. Since restoration under 3000 miles have been covered and the car has been used for local shows. The Spitfire is a very attractive car and it will be admired both on the road and on the show scene. This is an ideal car for regular use or long distance touring and has proven reliability. Great value.
