This truly stunning Triumph Stag has arrived with us in exceptional condition. SLT 680L is finished in Triumph Royal Blue with Black upholstery and has manual/overdrive transmission and comes with both excellent soft top and factory hard top. The car has been with its most recent owner near York for the past six years and has covered in the region of 10,000 miles over this period. The car was purchased in 2009 as a beautifully restored example but since then has had a further £12,000 spent taking the car to a top class standard. The Stag was driven over to us faultlessly and is one of the finest Stag's we have seen for many years.
SLT 680L was used regularly during the 1970's and 1980's and was with one owner between 1981 and 1997. From 1997 to 2000 the Stag was in Southampton and was subject of a substantial restoration work that included a full strip down and body restoration. The car was treated to major structural work and various new panels were supplied and fitted. There is a photo record in the history file showing the extent of this work. There are invoices dating back to the early 1980's and a substantial amount of receipts for mechanical restoration between 1997-2000. From 2000 SLT 680L spent nine years in Henley and was beautifully kept, used occasionally and superbly maintained according to receipts in the history file.
The Stag last changed hands in 2009 and whilst it presented and drove very well, the new owner wanted to take the car to a very high standard. First of all the engine was stripped down and fully rebuilt at a cost of £3,000. After the engine rebuild the car was used for touring holiday's and performed superbly. Between 2009 and 2012 a further £2,000 was spent on upkeep, maintenance and service work. By 2012 /2012 the paintwork was beginning to show signs of its age and whilst structurally superb, a decision was made to spend £5,800 on a professional re-paint. Further cosmetic improvements included new front and rear bumpers and the seats were treated to new foams. Since this work, the Stag has covered several hundred miles, mainly to and from shows.
The car presents superbly with a stunning paint finish and excellent straight body panels. The underside of the car is exceptional, as are the inner arches and engine bay. The car is structurally first class in every area and with superb brightwork, soft and hard tops and stunning wheels, the car is beautiful. The interior is of a high standard with perfect walnut dash, lovely seats, door cards and carpets. On the road SLT 680L is outstanding in every respect. The Triumph V8 runs perfectly, performs superbly and sounds fantastic. The car starts instantly, runs at the correct temperature and is quick, responsive and gives the driver huge confidence. Handling is brilliant, brakes feel sharp and the exhaust note is terrific. The power steering is super smooth, all the electrics work correctly and the car is quite simply stunning in every respect.
