1977 Triumph Stag Manual

This stunning, low mileage, original manual with overdrive Triumph Stag was supplied new on the 1st February 1977 by Lex Mead (Cardiff). The supplying dealer carried out the first three services at 1425, 4318 and 7579 miles in December 1978. In 1983 the Triumph was sold by Leyland Cars Distributor Hewitts Garages Ltd in Wolverhampton with a guaranteed mileage of 22,000. Hewitts Garages Ltd had actually serviced the car in 1981 at 19386 miles and again, months after selling the car in the summer of 1983 at 24121 miles. Copy receipts for some of these early services are still with the comprehensive history file at also includes the original passport to service booklet. Invoices and old MOT certificates accompany the car to date and verify the superb low mileage of 48,000.

This wonderful car is one of the most original examples we have come across. The Stag has been maintained to a very high standard and has not ever required a full restoration. The car has had work when required and kept in top condition throughout the past 35 years. We first owned the car in 2008 and sold the car within a couple of days to a customer in Scarborough. Over the past four years the car has covered almost 5000 miles and it has been thoroughly enjoyed and once again, well maintained. The most significant invoice was in 2011 when the steering rack was re-conditioned, power steering pump stripped and cleaned, two new track rod ends fitted and a general service carried out with a Stag specialist.

The Stag drives superbly with an excellent engine, gearbox and working overdrive. The driving experience is quite superb and the car genuinely drives like a top class, low mileage, and original car. The Stag looks beautiful with excellent paintwork, stunning chrome and an outstanding original interior. The original hard top is with the car in very smart condition, as is the soft top hood. The Triumph engine bay is smartly presented for summer shows and a Stag rear plastic window/wind deflector is also with the car along with a hard top stand. The car is taxed until April next year and is ready to be enjoyed.
