This stunning Triumph TR4 was built on the 16th December 1963 and dispatched on the 8th January 1964 in signal red with black leather upholstery. The TR4 was sold new by Genser and Forman Inc, New Jersey, USA with 60 spoke wire wheels, heater, black tonneau cover, whitewall tyres, wood veneer facia, sun visors and overdrive gearbox.
With the 4 cylinder wet-liner 2138cc engine from the late 1950's the TR4 was capable of 100mph and able to produce 100 b.h.p. The TR4 used a widened TR3A chassis with a body designed by Michelotti of Italy providing more interior space, a spacious boot and wind up windows. The car also benefitted from front disc brakes and face level ventilation, a first for mass produced UK cars.
This excellent car was repatriated in 1990 and converted to right hand drive. We have a detailed invoice file dating back to 1994 and MOT's from 1993 showing the TR has only covered 8,000 miles in the past 18 years. Mileage recorded is now 83,000 and the car performs superbly with a beautiful running engine holding excellent oil pressure. The TR4 changes up and down gear perfectly with a superb, smooth working overdrive. Cosmetically the car is excellent with a fabulous, straight bodyshell with superb paintwork. There are receipts for body restoration work in 2005 and the work has been carried out to a very good standard. The painted wire wheels are in excellent condition, as is the hood, tonneau, wood dash, carpets and black leather trim. A nicely detailed engine bay displays the quality of this motor car and whether it is bought for weekend use, shows or long distance touring, it will prove a fantastic buy.
