This absolutely stunning UK supplied Triumph TR4A IRS was collected from one of our regular customers in Poole, Dorset. The TR4A is a beautifully presented car that is still running in having covered less than 1000 miles since completion. GRJ 728D comes with a good history detailing restoration work, many invoices and a copy of Triumph World Magazine from June/July 2016 where the car and rebuild was covered in a five page feature. The file also contains a Heritage Certificate confirming the car still has its original engine and was supplied new in White.
The Triumph TR4A was rebuild from 2012 - 2016 having being off the road since 1982. After 30 years off the road, the TR4A was found with a recorded mileage of 30,000 and was in a poor state requiring full restoration. The Triumph required a full strip down enabling the chassis to be shotblasted and coated with anti-rust and the shell then treated to new panels including floor pans, inner and outer sills, B posts, rear and front valance, new front and rear wings, boot lid, bonnet and door skins. The body was beautifully rebuilt and the bare shell was then superbly painted. The TR4A was built up with new grill, wing beadings, various new and re-plated brightwork and new chrome wire wheels and tyres. The interior was fully re-trimmed with freshly upholstered seats, new carpets, door cards, glove box, steering wheel and dashboard fascia and the electrical system treated to a new wiring loom.
Basic mechanical work included a new stainless steel exhaust system, clutch plate, slave and master cylinders, new brake discs, calipers and rear shoes and the cooling system re-conditioned with a new radiator, water pump, thermostat and all new hoses. £7,500 alone was spent with Moordale Motors, Triumph restoration specialists on various works to include an engine rebuild. The cylinder head was converted to run on unleaded and the block treated to new pistons and liners. The engine was treated to a new timing chain and tensioner and whilst removed from the vehicle the gearbox and overdrive were overhauled. Since completion of the rebuild just 800 miles have been covered and the car is driving superbly. As expected with a freshly rebuilt engine performance is impressive and the unit retains excellent oil pressure. The gearbox is excellent, the overdrive comes in and out smoothly and the TR4A handles superbly with its new brakes and impressive independent rear suspension set up.
GRJ 728D looks stunning with is top class paintwork and stunning new body panels. The gaps are impressive, the panels lovely and straight and the car is finished off beautifully with its Surrey Top and hard top removable panel. With new panels we can see exceptional, perfect wheel arches and the bodyshell looks incredibly sharp. The detail is also impressive with a gleaming, smart engine bay and perfect boot and spare wheel well. Lifting the carpets reveals beautiful White floors and the interior is equally sharp with its high quality carpets and upholstery. This is an impressive looking car and on the road it matches expectations and offers a wonderful driving experience.
