This magnificent fast road TR5 has been totally rebuilt to show standard condition. The last owner has spent an astonishing £65000 and the vehicle is truly in outstanding, immaculate condition. The rebuild was completed in 2006 and only 650 miles have been covered since. The car has been kept in a dry garage and only used in good weather conditions. All work has been documented and we have invoices for all expenditure and photographic records detailing the work.
BKX 4F is a heavily modified car with some very expensive upgrades. The engine is to fast road specification with a modified cylinder head. Cast Hepolite pistons were fitted, the block bored to size and the crankshaft balanced, micropolished and re-ground. The flywheel was lightened, a new oil pump and uprated pressure spring fitted, new big end, main and thrust bearings, all new gaskets and conrod bushes, new core plugs, new crank spigot bush, replaced crank oil seal, new timing cover oil seal, new timing chain and tensioner, replaced camshaft lockplate, new cam followers and the camshaft reground and plasma hardened. The engine had a spin on oil filter conversion, new rockershaft, an alloy finned sump, alloy finned rocker cover and a new clutch and plate.
Mechanical work and upgrades included a front and rear anti-roll bars, uprated front and rear springs, new spax shock absorbers, uprated drive shafts, re-conditioned rear hub units, uprated bushes to the rear suspension trailing arms and differential, the differential rebuilt, the rear suspension changed to Racestorations own designed alloy telescopic system, Alfin alloy rear brake drums fitted, A.P Racing 4 pot callipers fitted and vented and grooved discs fitted. The front hubs were rebuilt and all new SS brakelines fitted both front and rear. A SS oil cooler, Kenlowe electric fan, Racestorations own Alloy multifinned uprated water pump and brand new triple Weber 40DCOE carburettors were also fitted to the car. Racestorations fibreglass radiator air duct with an outlet for induction pipework to feed air to the Webers carburettors has been installed to the car and the gearbox has been rebuilt and an electronic automatic overdrive system fitted. A Racestorations stainless steel performance exhaust system is in place and high capacity alternators, high torque starter motor have also been fitted.
The chassis has been totally stripped down, strengthened and painted with stiffening plates on the front and rear suspension, diff mounting points and steering rack. A bespoke roll cage including front bulkhead and rear hoops, removable rear diagonal brace and removable side door bars has been fitted to the car.
The bodywork has been totally restored by Heritage Classics in Teeside. The body was taken back to bare metal and re-painted in Royal Blue. The finish is outstanding. Genuine Minilight wheels with solid aluminium billet centres were fitted with new 205 tyres and all glass replaced. The interior was totally replaced with new carpets, hard top lining and new leather seats. All instruments were re-furbished and an Enrico Nardi wooden steering wheel fitted.
This TR5 is something quite special and has been rebuilt to a high specification with no expense spared. The condition is quite simply outstanding in every respect and the car is tremendous fun to drive. This is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a car that would cost significantly more than our asking price to replicate.
