We are delighted to offer this impressive, strong driving, quick fuel injected TR6 onto the market. This genuine UK overdrive car is a CR chassis number vehicle, first registered first on the 23rd May 1974 and its engine has more recently been fully rebuilt and upgraded to 150BHP. The car was purchased in 1983 by a Somerset based Doctor who purchased the TR6 with 67000 miles, selling it 29 years later to the most recent owner in Leeds with 89162 miles and just a few hundred miles have been covered since.
A well-documented history tells us the TR6 was treated to a substantial body restoration in 1985 that included new steel front and rear wings and a full re-paint. The car was also fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system and in 1988 a brand new hood fitted. In 1996 major mechanical expenditure was carried out with a Rimmers Bros re-conditioned full engine, re-conditioned inlet manifold and new clutch. In 2002 the car was treated to a re-conditioned differential, in 2005 new carpets and in 2007 the front suspension was fully poly bushed. The Doctor owner covered over 22,000 miles in the car and spent a considerable amount of money keeping up to the car. A comprehensive file of invoices are with the car that also include various work to the braking, steering and suspension over the many years of regular use.
Since changing hands in 2012, the most recent owner covered a few hundred miles due to business commitments, hence coming onto the market. Over the past few years £10,000 has spent in order to ensure reliability for long distance touring but sadly the car has not had use. On initial purchase in 2012 expenditure included new Firestone tyres, wheels were shot blasted and powder coated, a boot kit and radiator cover fitted and new further new parts included new brake discs and pads, brake servo, rear wheel cylinders, brake pipes and hoses, rear brake drums, brake shoes, master cylinder, wheel bearings, coolant hoses, vacuum pipes for inlet manifold, gear lever gaiter and new ignition items. This program of work ensured the TR6 was ready to drive and enjoy.
More recently further work has been carried out to include a new water pump, engine and gearbox mounts, new clutch kit, new Bosch fuel pump kit, new exhaust centre pipes, new injector bushes and a full engine rebuild to include re-boring, re-grinding the crank, all new internals, worked conrods including balancing and matching correctly to the engine and the 150BHP camshaft. Since the engine rebuild just 50 or so miles have been covered in the car so the engine is still running in. The TR6 has been inspected at our workshops and then road tested. We can confirm RFC 783M drives exceptionally well and is quick, handles superbly and is a delight to drive. The freshly rebuilt engine pulls incredibly well holding excellent oil pressure, the four speed overdrive gearbox is fabulous to use and the TR6 is tight on the road. The car presents well and is a real user, its nicely aged paint has a good shine, the body panels are in very good order and the car requires no major work. The interior has a nicely aged original look, the boot compartment is very smart and the engine bay superbly presented having recently had the engine and ancillaries re-fit. RFC 783M is a driver's car, one to use, enjoy and take back to its extensive touring days of the 1980's and 1990's. This is a car that will not disappoint on the road and presents a good quality, strong, older restoration.
