This beautiful looking Triumph TR6 was first registered on the 1st September and is a genuine UK spec CP chassis number car with overdrive gearbox. HLU 381K has had just five owners from new and the most recent owner in Lancashire has had it for the past fourteen years having taken on ownership in February 2004. When purchased in 2004 the TR6 was treated to over £17,000 of mechanical and electrical work. The engine was stripped down and rebuilt new main bearings, big end bearings, spin on oil filter, bottom and top end gaskets, chain, timing cover case and water pump. Other new parts included a steering rack, rack mounts, choke and throttle cables, Kenlowe fan, radiator hoses, engine mounts, heater control valve, new brake servo, master cylinder and slave cylinder, brake pipes, clutch flexi pipe. The TR6 was treated to a new main, rear and overdrive wiring loom, new fuse box, new dash dials, new gearbox tunnel, various new seals, wiper motor, alternator, starter motor and track rod ends. The fuel injection system was also rebuilt in 2002 with invoices for £1500 with a TR specialist present however in 2016 was replaced with HS6 carburettors. The fuel injection system is still with the car should the next owner like to reinstate it.
Having had this major work carried out in 2004/2005 the TR6 was back on the road in 2006 and over the next three years covered around 500 miles, mainly attending classic car shows in and around the North West. The TR6 was unused from 2010 until being MOT tested in May 2016. The TR6 was serviced, checked over and was subject of the carburettor conversion. Since then the Triumph has had gentle summer use and has arrived with us in beautiful condition. On the road the car is absolutely first class with an exceptional road holding enhanced with uprated shocks, brakes are super-efficient and the engine pulls strongly holding excellent oil pressure. The gearbox changes up and down smoothly, the car has overdrive ensuring its ideal for long distance touring and the TR feels tight, responsive and very fit. The carbs ensure this is a perfectly smooth engine and having the fuel injection system with the car, means it can be put back to its correct and original PI status if required. However, considering how it drives it would be sensible to enjoy this car exactly as it is as finding TR6's this smooth and this impressive on the road isn't easy.
HLU 381K looks stunning with its gorgeous Metallic Dark Blue paint, excellent chrome, chrome wire wheels, mohair hood and a gorgeous beautifully aged Grey with Blue piped leather upholstery. Having covered very little mileage since rebuild, the trim is still very fresh and looks lovely with its walnut dash and clear, clean dials and gauges. The body is super straight with lovely panels and the only very minor paint imperfections are commensurate with the time since rebuild. HLU 381K is a very useable, superb looking car that will be sold with full 12 months MOT, full service and function check in in our Malton Coachworks workshop.
