This stunning tax exempt UK specification 150BHP Triumph TR6 has come to us from a local customer. The car is finished in Emerald Green with Black upholstery and has arrived with us in excellent condition. This is arguably the most desirable model of TR6 and does come with the optional extra of overdrive.
In 2013 the Triumph was taken to a local classic car restorer for inspection and we can confirm the report stated the body and paintwork are in very good order, the body being remarkably rust free with a fine paint finish. The chassis and floors are in very good, sound condition. The interior is self-evidently new, with recent interior trim panels, dash, carpets and hood. The seats appear original and are in very smart condition. All the gauges work correctly.
The engine is very healthy with good oil pressure and the car pulls well on the road, pulling cleanly through the rev range. The gearbox changes well and the overdrive is a recently fitted re-conditioned unit. The brakes are even and stop the car efficiently and the overall running gear is in very good order. The car was described as a fine example of the marque with no hidden major body or mechanical problems. In May 2013 the TR6 had over £1500 spent on various improvements to include new re-conditioned injectors, a full service, new radiator and heater hoses, new thermostat and gasket, new heater hoses, re-chromed front bumper and re-calibrated speedometer.
Going back further into the cars history we know it was owned by a lady in Bury St.Edmunds for 19 years and we have a letter to confirm this. The TR6 has spent the majority of its life in East Anglia as prior to the 19 year ownership, it was owned by a gentleman in the same town. According to the long term owner, the car was cosmetically restored prior to her ownership and she then commissioned some mechanical work to include rebuilding the suspension. We have MOT certificates dating back to 1983 confirming the car has covered 32000 miles in the past 31 years.
Overall this is a high quality example that presents beautifully and as a result of the recent mechanical work, drives superbly. YPV 269L has a stunning, sharp engine bay, clean bodywork with excellent panel gaps and has been nicely detailed. The car is ideal for regular use, shows, rallies and long distance touring.
