1975 VW Bay Window Microbus

The VW Microbus, also known as a Kombi or Transporter is one of the oldest motor vehicles in continuous production having first appeared in the 1950's. The VW Type II has built up an unbelievable following and is recognisable worldwide. The Type II has been a true success story and after almost 60 years, production is finally coming to an end in Brazil with a run of 600 "Last Edition" models coming off the production line. As known in Brazil, the Kombi has been available in Brazil since 1957 and this really does mark and end of an era. With no successor to the Microbus on the horizon, prices are likely to rise so it may be a good time to invest in these fabulous, desirable vehicles. Whether it be used for shows and rallies, a daily commuter, taking to the coast for a day trip with the family or even a holiday, these VW's are ideal for regular use with space, comfort and reliability being just some of the selling points. An added bonus is the wonderful quirky looks and features of these true pieces of motoring history.

As so many of the genuine Microbus models have been converted into Campers, we are pleased to offer this superbly restored, genuine Microbus onto the market. The bus has been rebuilt to a very high standard and has recently come to us from a VW enthusiast in Northern Ireland. We don't have exact details of what has been done to bus, but we can see the body has been superbly restored and professionally re-painted. The interior has been fully re-trimmed with new carpets and re-trimmed front and rear seats. The VW presents beautifully and is a true credit to its restorer.

Mechanically our VW is very strong with a clean, well presented engine that has clearly been reconditioned. The engine runs beautifully and performance is excellent. The VW pulls strongly through the gears and is very responsive. The engine does not smoke and has no unusual noises. The four speed gearbox is smooth, quiet and changes are slick. Handling is as expected with a restored vehicle, it's sharp, precise and direct. The brakes are efficient and our VW is on the button and ready to go. This Microbus is the first we have managed to buy in many years and subject to the weather, will certainly be getting some use whilst with us. A great buy and something for the whole family to enjoy.
