1964 Volvo P1800 S

Immortalised by Roger Moore in the 1960's cult TV series 'The Saint', the Volvo P1800 has to be amongst the most iconic coupe's of that decade. YCB 396B was originally supplied new to a farmer in Callington, Cornwall in 1964 and the Volvo stayed with the first owner for 22 years. In 1986 the Volvo was sold locally with the new owner intending to restore the car. In 2003 the car changed hands again and was then restored to the magnificent standard it is today. This outstanding car was subject of a five year restoration completed in 2008 and has only covered 1000 miles since. This is a magnificent example worthy of winning shows and in November 2010 featured on the Autoproducts stand at the Classic Motor Show, Birmingham N.E.C.

The Volvo was rebuilt to a superb standard and work to the engine included new pistons, big end and main bearings. The original body was in sound condition and only required new sills. The body was fully stripped back to bare metal and re-painted in Volvo 46 red to a beautiful standard. All rubber seals were replaced and bumpers, grille, side mouldings, door handles and boot handle were all re-chromed. New carpets and leather were all that was required inside the car. The brakes were fully overhauled to include re-conditioned callipers, new pads, shoes, wheel cylinders, servo, master cylinder and discs. A new clutch cover, plate and slave cylinder was also fitted. The Volvo also benefitted from new track rod ends, rear wheel bearings, new propshaft UJ's and rear axle arms. The radiator was replaced and new plug leads, contact set, condenser, rotor arm and distributor cap were all replaced.

Since 2010, a further £5,000 has been spent on further detail and improvement work. All invoices for the recent expenditure are with the comprehensive history file and the improvements have been completed by a reputable West Yorkshire specialist. The Volvo is now a perfectly usable classic and was driven here from West Yorkshire. The car drives superbly and is presented in outstanding condition.

This has to be the very best Volvo P1800 we have had the pleasure of selling.
