1963 Wolseley 1500

We last sold this outstanding Wolseley 1500 in 2009. The car has covered several thousand miles since we last saw it four years ago and it comes back to us in exactly the same superb condition. DFH 261A has proven totally reliable and testament to this is the fact it was driven almost 100 miles to us.

This superbly presented Trafalgar Blue example was subject of a total rebuild to show standard condition between 1992-1995. The Wolseley was a regular show winner and it comes with three photograph albums, one of which details the comprehensive rebuild, the other two showing the many shows attended in the West Midlands area in the immediate years after rebuild. The car soon became a multiple show winner with cups and trophies to its name. A tremendous amount of work was put into the vehicle and photos display the body being totally stripped down with front wings and front panel removed. The body was restored to a very high standard with many new panels. The engine was dismantled, rebuilt and painted before being fitted back into the car. The underneath was rebuilt and photo's display the vehicle on its side with the underneath looking brand new after painting.

Now and many years since the rebuild, DFH 615A stands in stunning condition. Body and paintwork are still in a lovely condition requiring no improvements unless expecting a concours winning condition. The engine bay is still smart and presentable enough to show. The grey leather upholstery is still beautiful and has nicely aged. The carpets are excellent and the walnut dash is beautiful and highly polished. The Wolseley is a great pleasure to drive and handles perfectly with a strong and lovely sounding engine. The car has had careful use since restoration and whilst not in a show standard condition so many years on, it is still one of the smartest examples we have come across.

Along side the photographic records are invoices for restoration work, handbook, Wolseley World Journals, MOT Certificates and a 1960 London Motor Show book (The Motor) featuring the model. The car is an absolute delight and has been a pleasure to own, it will certainly give the next owner a car to be proud of.
